Good Evening
Friday, August 7, 2009 at 8:41PM Hello Team,
It has been awhile since I last journaled and here is a quick update.
I have been working hard on my jiu jitsu and have been catching up on my miles running and biking. I recently encountered a minor ankle sprain but it has been taken care of by accupuncture. If you want to feel better fast, I recommend it.
I have several projects that I have been working on. The first is I am developing a program with Dr. Thompson and Gary Klugiewicz called Verbal Judo for Martial artist and kids. Dr. Thompson is a police training legend. He developed Verbal Judo for law enforcement over 27 years ago. He has a doctorate in English and did his post Doctorate work at Princeton University. He was a former police officer and holds black belts in Tae kwon do and Judo. I have had the privlege of doing a 40 hour training course with law enforcement and Doc a couple of months ago.
Gary is a famous law enforcement trainer. He was one of the developers of defense and arrest tactics for the state of Wisconsin. He also developed the red man suit for Macho and is one of the top police trainers in the country. Gary has taught me how to keep my curriculum real in the world of martial arts. By the way Gary is a third degree black belt in Kyokoshin Karate and has trained with Mas Oyama.
Verbal assaults and dealing with them has been a hole in the martial arts. We deal with what to do once an attack happens but not with the verbal assault before hand. So, it has been a lot of fun re-translating Doc stuff with Gary for children and adult martial artist. My students are having a fun time learning this life changing material.
The second project I have been working on is construction. I stupidly agreed to do the build out for the expansion of my Germantown location. The school is currently at 2400 square feet and we are moving to a space that is 4100 square feet. For some reason I thought It would be fun doing this. I have a great crew of people doing the build out but I am having issues with people not being problem solvers to get things done. Should just hired a General.
So, there is hte update. I will look to post some vlogs for people to see.
Keep training hard team 6. Miss all of you from Alabama and I will see you at the next event.
Chan
