The Ultimate Black Belt Test is Creating Tomorrow, Today

Sometimes the most remarkable things right under your nose --and you don't realize it until much later.

Did you know that Ultimate Black Belt Test Coach Tom Callos is deeply involved with developing new ideas and technology that will forever change (and improve) the way the martial arts world teaches (the way YOU teach)?

The banner you see to the left represents, simply and inexpensively we might add, a new approach to coaching and making classes come alive (even after they are over).

Ultimate Black Belt Team Coach Tom Callos Explains the Value of Community and the Future of the Martial Arts

The Role of the Master Teacher (By Coach Tom Callos)

The Technical Specialist and The Humanist

There are no rules or guidelines for being a master teacher of the martial arts.

There’s no book to buy that tells teachers what to do, focus on, or what they should –or should not –be good at.

All the Master Teacher has to be good at is teaching his or her system, style, or method. The lesson starts on the mat, involve the art, and everything else is superfluous.

UBBT Team Coach, Dave McNeill - and Jake Passas, a Bellwether

Teacher Dave McNeill Meets (and Helps) a Bellwether

Bellwether: One that serves as a leader or as a leading indicator of future trends.

I am (Tom Callos) making this entry into the Ultimate Black Belt "Project Portfolio / News" Blog, as it is perfectly indicative of a new kind (read: old kind) of thinking in the martial arts community.

In this particular entry, our senior (in age and rank) member of the UBBT (9th dan, 65-year +, Soke [means family head or head master of a system] Dave McNeill talk about his experience teaching one young man, Jake, and
