    Meet Master Samuel Mockbee, The Ultimate Black Belt Teacher from The Black Belt

    I never got to meet architect Samuel Mockbee, I tried, but the day in 2002 that I spent a few hours trying to reach him was the same day I picked up an Architectual Digest at Border’s and found his obituary. He had died of cancer in December of 2001.

    I was trying to reach him for the very reasons you’ll hear him talk about in the video below.

    I met Kelly a couple of decades ago. He'd moved to Nevada from LA, where he'd fought in World Champion Benny "The Jet" Urquidez camp --which made me pay attention to him, as anyone who trained under and/or fought under The Jet was sure to be one tough and skilled martial artist.

    Alicia Kastner with classmate Chris NatzkeAlicia Kaster (Hempen), the first woman to join the UBBT, is one amazing teacher and activist.

    She's done a lot of things as a UBBT multi-team member, including dragging her husband, Jim, mother, brother, and students to and through the UBBT. She was also the first person to earn a 6th dan in the program.
